Under the Weather

Last week I was lucky enough to experience what being a sick mommy feels like. I caught a stomach bug and I was out of commission for two days. Unfortunately, I don’t have a babysitter on call to help in these situations, and my husband has been so slammed at work that he couldn’t stay home with Jackson. It was really difficult to take care of a baby when I was feeling so terrible. Honestly, no one enjoys being sick, but people with a conventional job get to just call in sick and stay in bed all day. Stay-at-home mommies and daddies don’t get that choice, and I have hit yet another level of respect for all my fellow stay-at-home/work-at-home parents.

Luckily I began feeling better around Friday because I had a ton of friends in town and a bachelorette scavenger hunt, party, and shower to attend. What a busy weekend!!

And now for some cute baby photos:

Tuesday Ten – Memories

Today for my Tuesday Ten I want to share my top ten memories of the past ten years. This past week I have been particularly challenged with a negative attitude and a very fussy teething baby, so this is the perfect pick-me-up. They are in chronological order, not necessarily in order of importance.

10. Rapids Seasons – Such a fun time in my life.

9.Meeting Trevor – The night we met was fun, but not the best night we’ve had together. Still, if I never would have shown up to his party, who knows where we would be?

8. Adopting Tanner Bartel – This dog has put us through quite a bit of damaged goods, but we love him anyway. Plus, look how cute he was as a puppy!

7. College Graduation – Lots of family came together to come and support me.

6.Engagement – 2 days after my college graduation! I’ll never forget the magic of that trip.

5. My Wedding day – So much planning finally came to fruition. It was a blast to celebrate with family and friends.

4. Our Honeymoon – Best vacation to date. Maui is incredible.

3. Discovering I was pregnant – This is a moment I don’t think women can ever forget. There were about a million thoughts running through my head when I realized the test was positive. What an emotional moment!

2. Jackson’s birthday – Again, I doubt anyone could forget the birth of their children. What an amazing and exciting day. I was so nervous in the weeks leading up to the delivery and I’m so blessed that everything went as well as it did.

1. Every Time JB Learns Something New – How awesome is it to watch a baby discover new things for the first time?! Jack’s first smile, the first time he sat up, when he started crawling, and when he ate food for the first time are such wonderful memories.

Chicagoland

Last weekend I traveled to Chicago to visit my bestie and have a girls’ weekend. It was so fun to visit her and a new city that I’ve never seen before. She was a great tour guide and I had a fabulous time. Here are the highlights of my trip:

Growing Up

Jackson is hitting some crazy milestones – he is crawling like a champ, he can pull himself up and shimmy around holding onto objects, and yesterday his first tooth came in! He has been extra fussy the past few days, but it has subsided a lot. For now. Teething babies are no fun, especially since you can’t really lessen their pain. I am not so into Orajel after reading a lot about it, so we use a lot of teething rings and the occasional dose of infant Tylenol.

Here he is playing in a laundry basket after I folded a load of towels. He pulled himself up and out, which was so funny.

Tuesday Ten – Fall Loves

My Tuesday Ten is dedicated to fall – the clothes, the leaves, the crafts, and of course, the food. Here is my top ten list via Pinterest:
10. Fall Fashion – I love the mix of the camel-colored shoes and bag mixed with stripes.
9. Halloween-style Wreath – How cute is this?!?!
8. Pumpkin bread – I made two loaves of this a few weeks ago and it was all gone in two days. So yummy!
7. Changing Leaves – fall is my favorite season. I love love love crunchy leaves.
6. Tuscan Garlic Chicken – This isn’t a “fall” recipe, but I love hearty foods like this during autumn. So delicious!
5. Pumpkin Pie Cupcakes – not a huge fan of pie, but I LOVE cake, so I am hoping these are incredibly delicious.
4. Denim shirt with boots – I actually copied this look and bought a denim shirt to wear last week. Love it!
3. Pretzel Balls – perfect for football games!
2. Football for babies – how adorable is this hat? I wish I could make it :)
1. Dressing up baby – this is the cutest little costume – I just want to eat this baby up!!
