Family Vacation

We had a great time on our vacation a few weeks ago. Things didn't go how we planned, but we made the most of our time away and came home with a few new adventures under our belts.

We started out packing for our trip a few days before we left. I should have started packing more like a week out - this baby of ours does not travel light!! Here is a snippet of what we brought for him for a week of travel:

  • 3 onesies for each day (21 total)
  • 2 pairs of shorts
  • 2 pairs of pants
  • 1 sweatshirt
  • 45 diapers
  • 10 swim diapers
  • 2 pairs of swim trunks
  • Sleepers
  • 3 pairs of socks
  • Shampoo
  • Baby Lotion
  • Sunscreen
  • Nail Clippers
  • 6 bibs
  • 6 burpcloths
  • 5 bottles
  • 4 bowls
  • 4 spoons
  • 6 jars of baby food
  • Rice cereal
  • Formula
  • Bumbo seat
  • Travel swing
  • Pack-n-play
  • Toys
  • Stroller
  • Car seat (duh, right?!)
Somehow, we also fit our things in the car as well. Thank goodness we have a large car.

We made the first day's trip from Denver to Moab. JB was great in the car. After I sat next to him the whole time. It was like I was 11 all over again!!

We stayed in Moab for two nights - Trevor went on some great mountain bike rides and we visited the Arches National Park. I can't say that I am interested in ever returning to Moab - unless a sweet resort opens up with a spa.

After two nights in Moab, we headed back to CO and made a stop in Beaver Creek. We stayed at the Park Hyatt and it was awesome. I was back in my natural habitat :)

We finished up our vacation with one night in Vail at the trusty Cascade. We got a sweet upgrade to a room that walked out to Gore Creek and we hung out at the infinity pool and had a lovely dinner (until Jackson decided he was ready to go).

All in all, good first family vacation. Jackson was fabulous, except for sleeping at night. I think he was too anxious in unfamiliar settings and he also isn't used to sleeping in the same room as us. He woke up a lot and he ended up just sleeping with us every night.

Luckily, life has gotten back to normal for us this past week and Jackson has slept from 7-7 the past three nights! He is also eating about 4oz of baby food three times a day. Baby is getting a belly :)

Our (late) Anniversary Weekend

Every year since 2008 Trevor and I have trekked up to Vail, Colorado to get away. Our very first trip up there was in May 2008 when Trevor proposed. We have since gone every year at least once. It's truly one of my favorite places and I wish we would win the lottery so we could buy one of the beautiful homes up there. If that happened, I just may never return to Denver except to fly between our Vail home and our Maui home :)

Here are some photos of our trips to Vail over the years:

14/15 Weeks

I am so incredibly late with this post. So late that JB is now halfway through the week and is closer to 16 weeks than 15. Life has just taken over everything and blogging is one of my last priorities after hanging with my family, running my teams, cleaning my house, running errands, and showering. It makes me tired just writing about it.

Jackson is turning a corner in his development. He is starting to form habits and learn how to get attention. He will now fuss when he wants me to drop whatever I'm doing and give him all my attention. We are attempting to get him to sleep at night without swaddling - tonight is night one so I'll let you all know how it goes. He likes to roll on his side and sleep and I am so over being paranoid about SIDS because I cannot let him sleep like that for very long without freaking out that he is going to perish. Thank you pediatrician for your endless 15-page memos on how I'm going to kill my child. I love being more anxious than normal.

He is also getting so big. He has almost complete control over holding his head up and he is now grabbing for specific things like toys and his bottle and my hair (what a grip!!).

Here are some photos of him that last few weeks - we took a mini vacation to Vail last weekend and he had his first pool experience. So adorable!!

Cabin Fever

I'm getting cabin fever - aka to me as Colorado Fever. I haven't been out of this state since last July. I'm going crazy here!!! In the months before I was pregnant, I was all over the place: Hawaii, San Diego, Vegas, Mexico, Florida, & Vail (still in Colorado, but always a fav). I need to get to a beach, or a pool, or a casino STAT!!

Last night I had dreams that we went to Disney World and also to Vegas.

I'm getting stir crazy here. Husband - if you're reading this, please take me to a beach soon :)
