Consumed
But, I have to say that I'm starting to miss it. I miss updating family and such about Jackson and just unloading my random thoughts.
So no promises that I will be regularly updating, but I'll try to be less sporadic.
Jackson is SO big now and he is growing like crazy. He can say a handful of words, but is still much more physical than communicative. He is a happy little guy and we can't get enough of his personality! He likes to play with buckles and snaps and tries to figure out how everything works. He can put on pants/shorts onto one leg and is incredibly independent. He gets mad when you do something for him that HE wants to do!
Here are some recent photos of Jackson:

Houdini Lives at My House
It’s true. He’s been reincarnated as my son. He’s now able to open doors, the dishwasher (even when locked), and almost his baby gate.
But here’s the worst story (warning – it’s gross):
Jackson woke up from his nap on Friday afternoon and was playing peacefully in his crib. I usually let him hang out in there for about 10-20 minutes until he gets cranky.
All of a sudden he started screaming so I rushed in to check on him. What I found was a half-naked child with poop splattered ALL over him. I’m talking head-to-toe coverage, including the inside of his ears. It was all over the crib, all over his mobile, the sheets and blankets, and the wall behind his crib.
What had happened was that I put him down for a nap in just a t-shirt and diaper because it was so hot outside. I’ve done this a bunch and never thought twice about it. When he woke up he took his diaper off. It was dry…. He then peed and pooped in his crib. And then he started to play in it.
I was so mortified and disgusted, but at the same time I thought it was pretty funny. I kept thinking how glad I was that he was my own child because I couldn’t clean up another baby.
I wrapped him in a towel and proceeded to give the most gross shower/bath I have ever experienced. I had to hold him up with one hand and pour water/soap him down with the other. I finally got the little bugger clean (who was in a gloriously good mood) and then I had to clean up his room. Yuck.
While I was cleaning up his room I had him in a diaper to eat dinner (he’s a bit messy). He took off his diaper again and then handed it to me. Sigh…
I learned an extremely valuable lesson on Friday – my child is never to be trusted on his own with a diaper. Ever. I’m definitely NOT looking forward to the potty-training days!!
I couldn’t bear to photograph the incident, so here’s a nice little photo of him instead – all cleaned up!

Out of Sight, Out of Mind
It's been what feels like forever since I've blogged. It's just been easier not to, which is weird because I really like blogging. I've just been caught up living my life and NOT writing about it. It was a nice break.
Re-cap: Got an iPad as an early Mother's Day gift, traveled to Oregon to visit Trevor's family, and mostly just watching my little boy grow up right in front of my eyes.
I fall more and more in love with him Every. Single. Second.
Seriously, he makes me want 10 more just like him. Okay, two more (especially if the next one is a boy).

Baby Fever
Yesterday was the first day since Jackson was born where I thought, “I kind of think I am ready to have another baby”. And then the world ended.
Okay, so I’m a bit dramatic, but I really haven’t felt like I could handle another baby so soon. We have plans to think about another baby beginning sometime next year and we are nowhere close to that considering it’s still March.
Last week I was all, whoa - slow down beast child. And now I’m all, whoa – wouldn’t you love a little sister/brother to play with?
I attribute this change to the world around me. More and more people that I know are either trying to get pregnant or are currently pregnant and they give me the idea that I too can conquer the second baby.
So last night I dreamt about baby bumps and midnight feedings and all things newborn.
And I woke up this morning – exhausted. So when Jackson took a nap I did too. From 8:30-10am. And that will NOT be happening with a second baby.
So I’m good for now. At least another week. Until I hear about someone else being pregnant, or I see a newborn and my heart and ovaries melt.
I mean, look at this ball of precious? Who wouldn’t want a few more of those???

Jackson–13 Months Old
Wow. I was looking at the calendar today and I realized that Jack is 13 months old! How crazy?! I’ve been calling him 12 and a half months for like three weeks or something and I think I decided in my mind that he was never going to get bigger.
But I was wrong. Of course. Here are his 13-month-old stats:
Weight: 22 lbs
Height: 31 inches
Clothing Size: 12-18 months
Eating: A lot! He loves bananas and yogurt for breakfast, and then pretty much whatever I'm eating he wants to eat as well. No more bottles at all – just sippy cups! Such a big boy :)
Favorite activities: Swinging at the park, Gymboree classes, playing with the dogs, and going on walks in his stroller.
Behavior: Jackson is a wild child! He loves to go. go. GO! A mess is made within seconds and he really enjoys getting into things he knows are off limits. He gives this sweet smile when he is into something that I have to pull him away from. Talk about trouble!
He is also still throwing the crazy tantrums and almost anything will set him off. He goes from happy to furious to happy in a matter of seconds.
And now, for some pictures!

My Child the Monster
I know that boys aren’t called divas, but mine should be. He is getting into this crazy phase where he wants what he wants at the moment he wants it. And when that doesn’t happen (because let’s face it, I’m not a magician) he loses his sh*t faster than Snooki at a party that’s just run out of alcohol.
I’m talking screaming at the top of his lungs, throwing himself around, thrashing his whole body tantrums. It’s incredible and not fun at all. At first I thought it was great that he knew what he wanted, and now I am wishing he was my precious newborn again. I thought the terrible twos didn’t show up until babies were, umm, two?!?!
I love this little beast more than anything, but he is driving me bonkers. He’s also become extra needy lately, and usually just with me. He lets Dad do a few other things when they are together, but when I am around he demands ALL 100% of my attention. I don’t know if that’s common with other babies??
I want him to learn what “no” means, but when we try to teach him and tell him no he just smiles this Cheshire cat smile and continues to be mischievous and just downright defiant. We refuse to spank him, and so we will pull him away from whatever he is doing and that’s simply not working either.
To top it off, I can’t get over how cute my little man is. He is a master manipulator and knows how to play us. Thanks to his father for that.
I mean, look at this baby face!
So, today is one of those days where my ovaries have boarded up shop and are hibernating until this child is a little more under control. And Momma is in desperate need of some delicious wine and perhaps a brownie.

Clubbing in Vegas
At home, we never go out to dance clubs, save for the rare girls’ night out, so this was a big treat for me. I love to dance and I love to go out with the husband, especially on vacation.
We decided on Pure in Caesar’s and the 8 of us headed over. After checking out the line, we decided to get a table. It is not a cheap outing, but since we never do it we decided to give it a go.
I’ll be honest when I say that things may have gotten a little crazy. I mean, here we were, in Vegas, with no baby. So I did what anyone would do – danced my booty off!
I think we got back to the room around 4:30am. Needless to say, I was in bed until at least 1pm the following day.
But it was ALL worth it :)
Thanks for all the new readers lately – I love talking to new people! Would you all mind taking a quick second to follow me on Bloglovin’? Help a sister out?
Just go here
Thanks!!

Vegas, Adult-Style
I’ve been to Las Vegas several times over the past five years. Most times have been the usual skimp on food and splurge on drinks. This time was pretty different. First, we went with three other couples. This was my first couples’ trip and it was a lot of fun! Second, we did more adult things like going to a show and a nice dinner or two. It was fabulous! Third, we all needed like a full day of recovery every time we decided to stay up late. That’s not like any other time I’ve been to Vegas!
We landed on Thursday evening super late and although I wanted to stay out and gamble or get some drinks, I was way too tired after we ate. So we did what any normal 80-year-old would do – go to sleep! It was actually nice because we woke up Friday refreshed and ready for some pool time. We met up with another couple for lunch at Mandalay Bay and enjoyed some sushi – yum :).
Friday night we went to KA – a Cirque du Soleil show at MGM. It was pretty cool. The performers are incredible. They are just so strong and amazing that it makes any show fun to watch. I will say, that the complete darkness of the theater may have made the two of us doze off for a moment. It’s kind of a rite of passage in my eyes, and shows that we really need more sleep!
Here we are going to the show:
